ARMOUR MAGAZINE

A FASHION & CULTURE PUBLICATION.

NEXT

ABOUTArmour is a student-run publication at Washington University in St. Louis. Since 2012, Armour has served as a platform for creative and cultural leaders in and beyond the WashU community.

For the past three years, I have been a creative director of the magazine, organizing, conceptualizing, and executing editorial shoots, as well as working as the lead/sole photographer. In my time at Armour, I’ve also worked as a layout designer, having the opportunity to design the layout for my own shoots.

PAPER DOLLS This shoot, created in conjunction with a whimsical fiction piece, imagines a world where dolls arrive in homes without warning. In a 1920s Inn, a narrator must trace why these dolls keep arriving, and why they won’t seem to go away.

THE SMELLY LUNCHBOX
For plenty of Americans, school lunch was the boring PB&J and chips. But what happens if you broke that mold? Instead, lunchtime meant pulling out a meal, looking around, and realizing everyone is watching. The Smelly Lunchbox portrays this experience—featuring four people who recalled personally experiences of standing out at lunchtime.

Following a series of interviews, I directed, constructed, and photographed sets featuring chosen meals from each model. Leaning into a wacky and loud visual language, this editorial celebrates individuality.

WHAT IF HUMANS WERE FURNITURE?Has your husband become stiff, quiet, and more than a little incompetent? Is he starting to smell like your grandparents—no, your grandparents’ living room? Does his posture resemble that of a lamp rather than the lad you fell in love with? Well don’t fret, this editorial is here to help! Drawing on 60s and 70s advertisements, this satirical piece is campy, fun, and more than a little weird.

Using chairs, strategic posing, and a whole lot of photoshop, I built and shot from furniture-like setups to create whimsical scenes.
